Digital dash

Hey all.

I have a question. I'm looking into picking up a used CV LX Sport, but I absolutely love the digital dashes, but ford does not offer them in the Sport. Is it possible to pick up a Dig Dash (dealer, junk yard, something) and have it installed into a sport and work correctly? Just curious, as to which model i would want to look into, the LX or the LX Sport.

Thanx!
Justin

if you absolutely have to have the digi dash you should look into an lx. the lx sport doesnt have one but take it from an owner of one, you wont regret getting the sport.

Funny, if it doesn't have one, it isnt a true LX sport. Mine has the DD, along with the console and the trim package. In fact all the Sport packages I have seen so far all came with the dd. Only the Marauder has the analalog dash with this kind of trim. The only other way that it will come without the DD is if the LX trim package was ordered with the HPP package, and was somehow labeled a Sport.

what year was yours router ? mine is a 2004 crown victoria lx sport in torreador red. i think this started in 2003, scroll down to convenience and comfort, then to electronic insturmentation (aka digital dash) :

CROWN VICTORIA OPTIONS (http://www.fordvehicles.com/cars/crownvictoria/features/)

no matter what you choose make sure you weigh the possibilities with both. if you plan on changing alot on your car go with that regular lx if you have an excellent budget. if your looking for a little more kick stock then go with the sport. if you get the sport i can give you a little advice. save up about $450, get the mercury marauder airbox (preferably 2004) and a p71 (police package air intake tube aka zip tube), an maf from a mercury marauder (2004 preferably),sct or blue oval tuner chip to adjust the idle, shift points,air/fuel mixture etc, and to make the MAF work.

I have a 2001 which I believe was the first year the sport package was available. I looked at 6 different ones before I was able to get the one I got, all were black with the center console and all of them had an electronic dash, that ranged from an 01 to an 04. There was an 86 that I attemped to buy, but couldnt get a decent loan, it wasn't a sport, but it had the HPP on it, and it even had the DD. This one didnt come with the sticker or a book, so I dont know what it came with standard. I do know, 87000 miles, and almost 3000 miles on the last oil change and the oil has not even darkened, which to me is VERY rare, at least the mechanicals on it were well taken care of, either that or the engine was just replaced. I have not had time to go over the car with a fine tooth comb, but what I see so far, the car has been repainted in some areas, but the fit and finish is still looking factory fresh, the interior is in excellent condition, no tears, rips, cracks etc, just a smudge on the left side dash next to the pedal adjustment button, and a rattle somewhere in the middle of the dash, probably the console pocket under the ACC panel.

wow thats pretty cool. did you keep yours stock ? the reason im asking is because im considering getting a pair of flowmaster 40's for mine to make it sound all kinds of mean but i wonder if it sounds fitting on the cv sport because ive heard those mufflers on some cars (suv's and such) and it honestly sounds like theyre having engine problems instead of a nice growl. i know i should probably consider getting nice headers but i dont have the money for it right now.

When the money is there for it, a set of Marauder tailpipes will be installed, the full ones with resonators. I am still searching for a full bolt up tuned exhaust, but not many places upgrade vics, and in a few years, a supercharger will be installed. The gearing is all in place for performanace, just need to wring it out of the block now. :)

I just did some Googling, and found some interesting information. 2001 was the firt year the Sport model was introduced, not sure when they stopped offereing the DD option, but I see they no longer have it for 2004 or 5, havent been able to find brochures from 2002 and 3.

Did you all know the Sport was supposed to be the Blackhawk? Wouldnt mind getting my hands on a blackhawk badge for my 01.

www.crownvic.us join us router and youll find all you need. believe it or not there are ALOT of parts compatible with the cv. just about any thing that works with the marauder works with it unless it has to do with the intake because its dohc in the marauder. if you want new exhaust and had about a good $1k for more power i would look into the following : kooks long headers ($500), 4 high performance catalytic converters (your choice), stick with the h pipe but new pipes, get it all ceramic coated, borla mufflers, marauder tips.
