i cant get the back hatch open....any sugestions thanx

i just had the same problem with mine. just keep trying to open the hatch. try flicking the handle a few times or push down on gate while trying to open. when and if you do open the gate take off the inside panel to expose the handle mechanism inside. you will see something like a long bolt that is adjustable to the handle. pry off the clip and adjust it so when you lift the handle the mechanism contracts more to the locking mechanism. i did that and now gate works fine.

what if i cant get the thing open it has been stuck for a real long time now....

also.....my check engine light turns on after about 10 min of driving....the jeep runs fine.....any sugestions

I cant get my back hatch open either. Opened 'er insides up and found that the release is broken. Havent been able to get it fixed yet, tho, so I dunno how hard that will be.
