is it difficult?teemsta 04-07-2005, 10:17 PM how easy or how hard is it to replace a passenger side front axle? i have a new one on the driverside but need to replace the other side. once you take off thr rotors and caliper, is there a spindle nut? is that all that needs to be removed or is there something else holding it in place in the houseing? any info would be very helpfull. thanks. JDPascal 04-08-2005, 01:00 AM To remove either front axle, you have to remove the hub/bearing assemble. It is held into the steering knuckle by three bolts from the back side. They are a 12 point head (at least on mine). The hub can be stuck fairly tight in the knuckle even after you get the bolts out - I had to replace one of the bolts after I used it "improperly" to get the hub out. the axle nut is torqued to 175 ftlb and the caliper bolts 15 ftlb when you put things back together. JD Cam7 04-08-2005, 04:37 AM JD pretty much sumed it up. It is a litlle easier if you have a puller to remove the hub and you should remove the Wheel Speed Sensor. dksob81 04-08-2005, 09:11 AM The hardest part about this is the HUB NUT/AXLE NUT. I could never get the NUT off, I broke a CRAFTSMAN BREAKER BAR trying to get it off, fortunately I didn't need to get it off like I originally thought (I was replacing the Ball Joints). vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
