Oil Pan on 300 i-6spidercrt 04-06-2005, 02:38 PM Does any one know if you have to raise the engine on a 2wd 300 Inline Six? All the repair guides that I looked at say that you have to remove the intake manifold, starter, radiator, etc. Then raise the engine. I'm asking because I'm looking at purchasing an 94 F-250, but it's leaking around the oil pan. If I have to do all that stuff I don't know if it will be worth it. Thanks for any advise you can give me. ModMech 04-06-2005, 02:42 PM They have rear sumps, so I cannot fathom a reason why you would heve to remove all that stuff to get the engine up enough to replace the pan and gasket. However, I have never had to do this, so there is some question as to wether it would actually work, but looking at it, it looks ok. spidercrt 04-06-2005, 02:53 PM That's what I thought. I could understand maybe not having enough room if it was 4wd. Remove radiator and shroud and starter. Shouldn't need to remove intake. I just removed mine and I didn't need to. Mine is a 1993 f150 straight six. fordtrucksonly 04-14-2005, 09:37 PM most of the time you dont have to take the intake off but you might depending on the amount of room you need to work on it. maybe try toremove radiator and shroud like he said first then see what youve got from there. gbic1 04-15-2005, 07:25 PM I have done quite a few and never take off an intake manifold. I dont remember for sure but you might have to drop the oil pump after you lower the pan alittle. wafrederick 04-19-2005, 11:22 PM Inspect the oil pan also. The ford oil pans are known for rusting out on the 300,302,351 cid engines ,check for spots where someone put JB weld on. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
