Let me know if anyone lives close and might be interested. capritoms 04-06-2005, 08:35 PM my parents live just north of New Martinsville...some pics, details, and a price please!! bbroski 04-07-2005, 08:33 AM my parents live just north of New Martinsville...some pics, details, and a price please!! Sure I don't have pics just yet but just to let you know, It needs some rear wheel well work. It's rusted pretty good but if you know someone who can weld it can be fixed pretty easily. It is a great runner I drive it about 80 Miles a day, it has 127,000 on it and I get about 38-43 MPG in it I did get 50 once. It has new tires new wires, plugs, rotor, button, distributor, new valve cover seal, new timing belt and tentioner, timed perfect, am/fm/cd player, but needs speakers, I had shelf speakers in the back. No leaks what so ever. I believe it needs new calipers in the front, it has some brake drag, once that's fixed it will probably get a little better gas milage. The transmission is rebuilt a year a go with new clutch. Paint is in pretty good shape, still shines. Has a little rust spots here and there. Both doors on the bottom corner is rusted. It was like that when I bought it. I use lukus Oil treatment with castrol syntech in it and change it every 3000-4000 miles. All Highway miles. I got it with about 94,000 on it about a year and three quarters ago. Like I said this is a really good car and has never ever broke down on me, but I keep it really maintained so that it wouldn't. Also when I first bought it I put a new muffler and pipe from the cadalitic converter back on. If your still interested in it, I will be glad to take some pics and email them to you if you want. Thanks for inquiring. By the way incase your wondering the reason I'm getting rid of it is because my wife finally said I could go ahead and get my VW Jetta TDI. I been wanting one for a while but couldn't afford it. But I have to let the Geo go. I put it in the Green Tab for $1500 OBO, it won't come out until Sunday. I am willing to negotiate if your interested. chembrad 04-07-2005, 04:16 PM If you can get $1500 for a rust bucket TAKE IT! Personally I won't touch a car if it is rusted other than a parts car (which is only worth $400-$500 tops). :2cents: bbroski 04-07-2005, 06:53 PM If you can get $1500 for a rust bucket TAKE IT! Personally I won't touch a car if it is rusted other than a parts car (which is only worth $400-$500 tops). :2cents: Sorry You feel that way but it dosn't have a ton of rust its just a few spots that can be fixed, and not many 95's have no rust, so are you going to tell me that they all are part cars? bbroski 04-07-2005, 06:55 PM I have taken pictures of it and I can email them to anyone who wants to see them, I have also posted them in my gallery if you want to see smaller versions of them, but if you want better detail I can email them. chembrad 04-08-2005, 01:29 PM It is not what I "feel" about rusting cars. It is my experience with rusted cars. What you may not understand is that visible rust is like the tip of the iceberg: there is usually a lot more unseen below than what is seen above. It is an indicator of further problems. The conditions that cause rust on the surface (high humidity, sea salt, road salt, etc) also are affecting all the uncoated steel parts that you cannot see: like the interior framing and backsides of panels. Rust is like cancer to cars. It is not as simple as just "sanding it down and painting over". Ask some people who deal with classic cars (such as '64-'73 Ford Mustangs or 1950's Chevys) and see what they have to say about rust on car bodies. And unless you know what you are doing when it comes to assessing rust damage, then you might ask a second opinion from someone that knows how to assess the actual extent of the damage. Otherwise you may find that you have an angry buyer on your hands. For most people I recommend "walk away" from rusting cars. bbroski 04-08-2005, 03:04 PM I hear what your saying, but I'm not trying to sell someone a car to restore, I'm trying to sell something that is in 90% good shape that runs great and would make a good work car for someone that dosn't mind driving a little car that gets great gas mileage, espescially with gas prices now a days ($2.30 out here). I had the whole inside tore apart to see how much damage there was and there were no other rust spots on the floor what so ever except on the wheel wells, Fix that and you got a good work car. I'm not trying to sell anyone something with out telling them the problems with it, I posted the pics, take a look at it and tell me if you think that car looks like a parts car. I pass metros on the road all the time that don't look or run half as good as mine or take as good of care of theirs as I have or put as much money in to it. $1000-$1500 for a car that will last you a good couple of years (if you take care of it) is a good deal if you ask me. That sure is a lot cheaper than going and buying a new car if you don't have the cash, and if you look in the auto trader used car dealers are selling these things for $2000 and up because people will pay that because of gas prices, plus their worse off body and engine wise than mine. chembrad 04-08-2005, 07:44 PM Good luck as you sell your Metro. timguyli 04-09-2005, 11:52 AM I guess is didnt realize how lucky i was.. I bought my 93 2 door lsi ,no rust, great shape for $300 bucks last august. chembrad 04-09-2005, 10:17 PM '94 Geo Metro 1.0 L 5spd bought for $350 in northern California. Not a lick of rust. :smokin: It all depends on what part of the country you are in. Areas that have snow tend to have rust problems from the salt on the roads as do cars by the coast. Cars around the Great Lakes region are notorious for their rust problems. Problem rust spots tend to be wheel wells, lower side panels, underneath the doors, rotors/axles. Rust is one of the main considerations I have when I look for an older model car. I can replace anything on the car, but it is hard to replace the entire body... :2cents: megawayne 04-10-2005, 10:08 AM I bought a 94 1.0 3cyl 5 spd with working air and it is immaculate with 103,000 miles and a new engine from GM dealer for 800 bucks. Also new clutch etc. but I guess I stole it. capritoms 04-10-2005, 09:32 PM No...I stole mine. I got my 96 1.3 LSi for $100 cash because it ran rough and it is purple. I bought it for one of my stidents because he was going to give it away. I had to replace the distributor cap because it was cracked and caused the rough idle!! I am happy w/ my purchase...except it is purple. chembrad 04-11-2005, 03:53 AM No...I stole mine. I got my 96 1.3 LSi for $100 cash because it ran rough and it is purple. Put it on e-bay....I bet you get over a grand easy...look at what the other metros are selling for...ballpark for your car would be $1100-$1300...these are hot items right now because of gas prices....good luck Staypuff 05-01-2005, 12:37 AM put up and add for it in cali. if you ever take a trip out there you will see metros everywhere. you can take a crappy metro and sell it there for well over 3000. the people there really understand and appreciate the fact that these cars do last a long ass time if maintained just slightly. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
