Hows it going in this room? when i notice my financial situation gets better and i get a better feeling of possibly learning to fix cars and the everyday car functions remain the same as of now. i would get the feeling of getting a 300zx as of one of my posessions. (if my obsessions of the car doesnt get out of hand). now how can i start this? what i have noticed about a 300zx is that some of them come with a drivers airbag and no side airbag. with the public theres a possibility that if somebody notices a high performance car doesnt have a side airbag one can feel somewhat threatened of being a passenger, i have noticed that calling nissan dealerships to get airbags would be more trouble than what its worth concerning the cost of getting another 300zx of total price (if you get your car stock), so with the side airbag is it able to be disabled, as well as show the cars modern style for car shows? (if anyone cares), without the airbag option i wonder if its more convenient for working on the cars if one wants to add more equiptment (without the fear of the side airbag blowing up). in searching for 300zx pictures i havent seen a carbon fiber dashboard for the 300zx. does it look nice if done? as it is i have read on forums that the 300zx is a pretty slim car and getting the car to a lighter weight wouldnt be much of a dramatic change. i understand that a dashboard would probably not be much of a big deal but the options and finishing touches do sound great for any car you would like to modify if there's that option.

cons pros comments would be appreciated
I appreciate the times here

Whoever said the 300ZX is a slim car was HIGH! I often compare the car to me when I played football, it aint light, but man can it go. The Z32 is a moderately heavy car for its size at around 3300lbs +/- 100lbs. Most of this weight unfortantly sits over the front axle line. So this makes the car nose heavy and this causes a sad tendancey to understeer at speed. You can dial some of this out with suspension setup, but you need to shave wieght out of the front of the car. Unfortantly most of the parts in the front of the car are pretty light except the engine.

As for the airbag, the passenger side airbag option is kinda common after 91 model Z32s. I would say about 85% of the 91+ model Z32s I have seen have them. As for doing interiour mods dont worry about the airbags, if you are careful and you have a idea how to do things you should be able to take them out without much fuss, and be able to do all sorts of interiour work on the car without them going off. They are surprisingly difficult to set off.

And contrary to popular belief yanking stuff out of the inside of you drivers compartment isnt removing weight from the front of your car, its removing weight from the middle and rear. The front of the car is with in 2ft or so ( about the length of your tires) of the front axle line and foward.

the only carbon fiber dash pieces i have seen is the roundish piece that covers the guage cluster and the defrost vents. im sure anything is possible though. if your really serious about spending the money for a all CF dash...their are shops that will make one out of CF if you ship them your stock one. i dont think its worth the money unless you were interested in building a show car...

hell, i didnt even know the Z32 came with a passenger side air bag or side air bags. i thought it was just the driver...ehh. thats what i get for driving a 90'.

and like hodo said, the Z32 is not slim. it is a pretty heavy car for its size but it is late 80's technology so they still made almost everything out of metal back then. not really a such thing as a CF chassis back in the day. the problem with the Z32 is that its not light but its hard to make significantly lighter without spending gobs of cash on custom parts. this is because most people do not want to sacrifice their interior and daily drivability for the sake of a couple hundred pounds and because everything else is essential. if your going for strictly racing, pick yourself up a slicktop. they are about 200lbs lighter due to not having to have the extra support for the T-top roof. then try and make that lighter...
