where do i start?i never worked on these engines and im totally lost.
i dont know if the oil pump is electrical or mechanical?
should i change the sending unit? where is it?
or should i just change the pump?
is it hard to change?or is it easy, like in the pan or something?

please any info will be extremely appreciated

Ok its gonna be ok :)
First things first. Is the engine full of oil? Is the engine making any oil starvation noises while your gauge/light is registering no oil pressure?

After you answer those questions you need to figure out if its the sending unit or the actual oil pump. You didnt indicate what engine you have. Either way, both oil pumps are mechanical. Do you have access to a oil pressure gauge? You might be able to "rent" one from your local auto parts store. You are going to have to find the oil pressure sending unit, usually right in front of the engine between the engine and the radiator. Has the sending unit been leaking? How many miles are on your car?

its the mitsubishi 6cyl..3.0?

its real peppy!no turbo

the oil has been disapearing slowly maybe 2 quarts a month.
when the oil level got real low,i would know because i would all the sudden get awsome oil pressure!!

someone just told me the sending unit only reads pressure, and it wouldnt cuase a stopage of oil flow.<pep boys>

before all this,,heres how it went...
i would start it and it would tapp for a second...then for 10 seconds...more and more and more..untill i had to drive it and let it warm up a little gently untill it stopped tapping....then it was perfect....but still no pressure on the guage..

the engine has 60,000 miles and driven pretty ligthly<girl driven>

95 gtc convertable 6cyl 3.0 i think.

the main is that it got progressive and finally ,theres no oil getting up to the vlaves...
it tapped so bad last time it was idling that it stalled itself out.

valves are dry!im pretty sure its the oil pump.what else could it be if its mechanical and the sending unit doesnt restrict oil flow if its bad?

any instructions or ides how to cange it?it cost 108 at pepsi boys..
i hope its just 2 bolts and a shaft and i caN DO IT FROM THE OIL PAN?

wishfulll thinking!!

thanks for the comfort but i need more helpppppp

Quick question: What type of oil filter are you using?
The reason I ask is sometimes you will get a defective oil filter that can collapse and adversly effect oil pressure. before you go tearing into the engine, try replacing the $3 oil filter. Just a suggestion!

Ok if you are going to replace the oil pump, Im not very experienced with the 3.0. Go to www.allpar.com You can find help there!
Good Luck!

Ps. It might be a "good" time to buy the $15 manual from Murrays or Autozone ;)

If you're going to put a new oil pump, you'll need to take off the timing belt, crank pulley and the oil pump is driven off the crankshaft.
