2003 Malibu Quitrbowers28 04-02-2005, 11:00 PM First off, any help is appreciated. Today I took my 2003 Malibu on a trip. After the trip it was parked for about 3 hours. I started it and went down the road about 1 mile and lost all acceleration. The engine died and would not restart. DC power is not the issue, nor is gas. It is almost like the fuel pump went out. BTW the car only has 51,000 miles on it. Anyone had a similar issue? igkyoa 04-03-2005, 02:54 PM when you first turn the car on you should be able to hear the fuel pump priming (kinda a humming sound) for a few seconds if you dont hear that then its probably shot which is pretty common among malibus rbowers28 04-03-2005, 04:08 PM Thanks IGKYOA :) It looks like a $500 bill if it is. rbowers28 04-04-2005, 08:26 PM The culprit was the fuel pump. Final cost $388. Thanks GM. bcopeland 04-06-2005, 09:13 AM You guys need to learn to check fuel pump relays and fuel pump fuses etc. first before hiking straight off to the dealer. What if you find an unscrupulous dealer that all they did was plug in a fuse? As GMMerlin says - diagnostics is th first road to travel. igkyoa 04-06-2005, 01:51 PM Are the fuel pump relay and fuse in the box under the hood? bcopeland 04-06-2005, 08:54 PM The fuel pump fuse is in the fuse box by the brake fluid side of the car. There are also fuses inside of each door. The fuel pump relay is one of the 3 to 4 black cigarette like boxes near the windshield wiper arms on the firewall. jersejack 04-16-2005, 06:31 PM fuse #48 under hood 15 amp blue no relay but its in relay box vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
