New 2005 Camry LE lurches when I stop at lightlama 04-02-2005, 10:06 PM Since the day I bought it 6 months ago my Camry LE now with 1700 miles on it lurches when I come to a stop. It only does it with the A/C on. I took it in to be checked and they said it is "normal" but another guy at the service dept. whispered to me it is not mormal. Anyway they didn't try to do anything to fix it. Whenever I stop it feels like someone is hitting my car in the rear. It is a small "push" feeling, or a lurch. It is minor but annoying. They said it is the computerized idle control and they won't replace it. They sounded like they are familiar with the problem. What can I do about this? mikehd 04-02-2005, 11:34 PM Ask to talk to their customer service manager for the shop. Don't deal with the repair service manager as they are paid to minimize their shop expenses. If the customer service manager won't help, contact Toyota USA customer service for arbitration. It is a car! 04-04-2005, 10:12 AM when the a/c kicks on, the engine is automatically set to compensate by reving up higher to keep the rpm stable thus the apparent surge at stop. I am no mechanic but I do remember having the same concern when I bought my new 4 cyl. camry back in 96. don't be alarmed - it is normal and will become less pronounced as car ages. typesix 04-04-2005, 04:26 PM It does not get less pronounced as the car ages, my 89 Camry still has the same lurch as when new when AC compressor kicks in. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
