94 4.3 L, CPI exhaust is smelling bad.( rotten/ sulpher) I checked usual suspects: no washing of nut kit or spider, no rattling of the cat, ( cat was replaced in Nov. 04 ) new O2 sensors, (also Nov. 04) cleaned air filter, switched gas stations. I know we have additives in our winter gas, but my other vehicles do not exhibit this problem. Any other suggestions? Full tune up ( plugs, cap, rotor, ) also Nov. 04. No MAF sensor in CPI, so I'm running out of ideas. No codes either. HELP.... :banghead:
Thanks

Does it smell bad all the time?

It smells about 60-70% of the time, was more noticeable when cold, however, today, in the 50's very noticeable. I should also add I drive city driving, quick trips, 10-15 min stop and go. Kills mileage, but whatta goin' to do?

Have you checked your timing lately?

No, actually, I didn't consider that. I'll reset the base timing and let you know what the results are.

Ok, results are in. Timing was advanced 4 deg. Reset timing (remembering to disconnect the wire) and see how she does. will post smell results tomorrow after a day of driving. :smokin:

Well, a mixed bag for the results. Still some smell, (might just be me) but seems to idle a little off. No skipping, and it might just be I was used to the old idle. I set the time to 0deg, (with timing shunt disconnected) shut her down, plugged in the shunt and pulled the ecm fuses and neg. batt. cable. 10 min. later, when reconnected, showed 0 deg at mark.
I logged about 35 miles today, and I will get her out on the highway tomorrow and see how the odor/gas consumtion is. Thanks for the help.

No problem.

I would still maybe look into the injector just in case.
