how do I turn off the governer

I have a 98 intrique. When I get it up to about 180kph she just quits. Yes I know what the hell am I doing going that fast. One answer ROAD RAGE! Anyway does anyone know how to turn it off. Its got to be just the most agravating thing in the world.

sigh.. there are theories..most of them result in disconnecting the speedometer, and possible damage to the transmission, difficult and not worth it

If you have the 3.5L engine, the best bet is have the ECU re-programmed by an aftermarket company such as ASE. The speed limiter is removed and it gives overall performance gains. Don't know if it is legal in Canada though. Only problem is you will have downtime with the car. The complete ECU/PCM must be sent to them for re-programming.
