how quick is the z31 turbo supossed to spool

mine begins to be + boost if i let it sit at 1500 and wack the throttle by the time i hit 2000 rpm i got 3 psi ????

before i put new head gaskets on i had to hit like 2500 rpm while under a load (as in driving) i would get boost no sooner

now i sit at 1500 and zap i got boost???

did i get a visit from the magical boost fairy????

or was there a bad exaust gasket before???

anybody else have this or is it me and my tuning :naughty:
yeah i dont think so :grinno:
`but if so any body else need a boost fairy visit lol
wow smilies :iceslolan
lol never used them before
ok now im a :loser:

any input would be nice

you said you also changed your exhaust to 3".. that probably helped quite a bit.. any sort of leaky exhaust gasket would probably affect your spool time a bit... but then again, any sort of breathing upgrade helps spool time...

itsd there in the center of his valve cover goin to his intake right ?
and by stainless steel im talkin like all the 3" cones you see only instead of it being like a cotton mesh its stainless steel, you can actually see through it if you hold it to the light
and id get one of those filters but in the future i wana get the oil cooler mounted there
and you still have your baffle box thingy?
lol i got rid of mine first thing
i want all the response i can get lol
and all that does is try and help hush it up a bit isnt it?
and i see your na i had one of those and its pretty snappy for what it is
i also see your still running mechanicle fan
you know you can free up something like 5 hore off that right?

to answer the PCV valve question of its where-a-bouts...

in reference to delerious's picture above:

there is a thick hose (1" in diameter and about 6 inches long) leading from the valve cover to the upper plenum...it is on the passenger side of the engine bay, right in the middle of the valve cover. if you follow that hose to where it goes into the upper plenum...that hose is your PCV hose and it is connected to your PCV valve.

if you havent replaced it, you should because on the Z31, i read it tends to get gummed up more than your average car. when i changed mine, it was so gummy it was ridiculoous if anything could even move through it.

yeah, i just haven't bothered to get rid of it yet... haven't been able to get out to the muffler shop to pick up some pipe for it... yes it's just an intake resonator... not much point to it really, i don't even know why they put it in stock, especially on cars like ours.

as for the fan, it's more like 10-15hp... also haven't gotten around to that... haven't found a suitable kit that fits in the fan shroud correctly.. it'd be nice to get rid of it but it's not at the top of my priority list right now...

i'll look into replacing that hose i think tho.... is it just the hose or does it screw into something... maybe i could just clean it out with a wire cleaner or something..

the pcv screws into the intake and i wouldnt recomend cleaning it unless you remove it and solvent dipp it for like a year then put it in boiling alcohol and then blow it out with air then clean it again with solvent
dobnt really just buy a new one
