I don't about acetone but I'll ckeck into it, but I do know you can use TOLUENE (paint thinner) and raise the octaine level up to 115-117.

i think your car's an n/a, so running anything over regular is a waste of cash imo...

you have a n/a right??? if it is an N/A you will be fine to go down a grade or 2. i usually put mid grade in mine which is 89...but i havent driven mine all that much.

i think delerious is putting 87 or 89 in his n/a without a problem...just dont go to some back hills gas station and put some leaded fuel in there. :D i bring this to your attention because i was drivingt through a small town in western indiana a few weekends ago and this little gas station shack with one pump was still advertising leaded gasoline. :lol:

naturally aspirated engine... just means your plain old engine.... no forced induction (turbo/supercharger or nitrous)

yeah nok it down to 87 and once a month or every other drop the few extra and use 93 and inj. cleaner (cheap 1.39$ injector cleaner) or add a bit of toulene lol

and on that not when i went to the calculation chart i found that toulene is rated to the equvalant of 115 and xylene (which i burned my hands with before chemical burns suck ) but xylene is rated 117 but when you add that to the gas the #s drop alot (simple averaging sorta deal

dont diss higher octane fuel in NA motors they often act to clean the internals of the engine elimintating carbon buildups, so even if you don't use it everytime you fill up I would recommend it occasionally to increase the life of your engine

Running higher octane on any engine is never going to detrimental (to a given degree), higher octane fuel, from a pump anyway, often contains additives which break down carbon deposits, promoting more efficient combustion. Cleaner fuel injection nozzles encounter less hang-up, promoting a faster and more complete burn. Doesn't have anything to do with whether or not your cars boosted, and your car isnt going to run richer or anything.

that is what im told too and the build up? its a cleaner puirer fuel how would it create carbon? somebodys pulling something lol and the whole deal with cleaning inj thats why i said once a month or every other month deal i use 93 in all my vehicles (except work trucks they get 5 gallons water and 1 gallon of 84 octane lol not really 87 but the way they run lol

Setup properly any engine can use higher octaine fuel and if you advance the timing to best use the higher octaine fuel will enhance the power of your engine.
As for carbon, if you run a water injection system you won't have a carbon problem and you'll have the cleanest engine inside plus cleaner oil. No carbon = no trash inside.

but yeah doesnt that model z have a vg30(d)e same as the old maximas? use 87 and save your money for cancer sticks and O.E.

Running higher octane does not clean out your engine. Thats a myth. If your car is designed to run on 87 octane then you can run 85-89 without much of a issue. You ECU will adapt the timing accordingly. As for a car like the Z32 you have to run 91 or better, you CAN run 91-95 without much of a issue. But when you start to get below the 91 mark you start getting real unstable combustion above 2500RPMs.

there is not much of a difference between the octane levels cleaning capabilities, they all have about the same addatives in them. My only suggestion is at about 100k miles or so I would run a bottle of rubbing alchol through the gas tank, with some gas..... whatever you normaly run, this will absorb any water in your tank, and get it out of there.

Or you can add some valve grind to your tank, ahaaha

on the note of it not cleaning and same additives isnt it more volitle (higher octane ) and try and disolve a large quantity of something like styrofoam in 87 and then in 94 see which can disolve more and faster lol (napalm) i bet the 94 wins lol proving itll clean the engines carbon diposites

I am look to buy a 90' 300z, but i was told to run 91, but gas prices are insane i was wondering since it's not turbo or anything that i might be ok if i just used fuel injector cleaner often?

u shouldnt have to run fuel injector cleaner often or ever since its not turbo you shouldnt have to run 91 unless i think ive heard that your suppoes to run 91 in tha z32's .. im sure sum1 else can clarify.

Yah the guy that owns the car says that the manual says to run 91, but i don't think its necesary, esp. since gas is like 2.69 fro 87 oct., but I am open to all opinions, so let me know im probably going to put an offer in on the car sometime next week so let me know.

yah you was tellin me delirious in utehr thread its expensive but now here i seen $2.87 for 89 regular .

up to 104.9 per litre here... that means a $55 tank of gas that lasts me 2 weeks at best...

hell i spend 35 to 40 like 2 times a week for my bonnevile lol and like 35 for my z now come on lol

yeah i drive about 17 miles round trip to and from work a day, sometimes more depending on what happens after work, but still, low mileage high gas useage... and i'm n/a too... getting the gas mileage of a turbo but not the power:(

i use altavista's "bablefish" translster when im looking for cars to buy from Japan. thats alright. you can normally get the gist of what they are trying to say from that.
