96 regal bucks between 45-50 mphfreerider26 03-31-2005, 11:16 AM Everytime I get to 45-50 mph, either on highway, or back roads, it seems to buck. I think it might be the carburator, but am not sure...any ideas? If you have a 1996 Regal, I don't think it has a carburator. Should be fuel injected. The bucking is probably the torque convertor locking and unlocking, especially at speeds of 45 - 50 mph. Before geting into anything major you might want to put in new spark plugs and wires first if it has not already been done. I'd recommend sticking with the OEM AC Delco plugs and AC Delco plug wires. Plus it could be other things causing the bucking but this is a good starting point. Good Luck! xoros 04-08-2005, 01:38 PM My '94 Regal is doing the same thing... do you also notice it if you are at a stop then just barely let your foot up on the brake? The whole car feels like it chugs, same thing at 45 - 50 like you say. My car is throwing the check engine light though so I will try to find out what the code is and let everyone know :) freerider26 04-08-2005, 06:49 PM My battery light has been on for awhile (2 weeks) so I went to change the battery and the light is still on...I am thinking that it may be the alternator. At stop lights, no it does not "chug", but then again I have not driven it in a few days. Everytime I get to 45-50 mph, either on highway, or back roads, it seems to buck. Gonna see what I can do about the light...I know that AutoZone tests the alternator for free. Gonna go there and see what is up. fastbuhda 12-05-2005, 05:53 PM Have your car checked with a scanner .My car does the same had it checked and a bad wheel sensor code came back .When your driving the car it seams to buck its not acutally, the front brakes are apply themselves to make the wheels rotate the same .If the computer indicates one wheel is moving faster then the others it will apply the brakes to make them rotate the same. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
