If you have a 5 spd there is only one cat. converter, automatics have two.

i would recommend getting the CEL code read at your local AutoZone (or whatever is in your area). Once you have the codes it's much easier to troubleshoot.

Rotten egg smelling exhaust indicates a rich running condition. Aboslutely nothing to do with the cat itself, just the cat trying to process all the hydrocarbons. Check your airfilter and Mass air flow (MAF) sensor. Like Canucklehead says, start by reading the codes.

IT COULD BE AS SIMPLE AS HIGH SULFUR CONTENT IN THE FUEL i WOULD FIRST TRY FUELING UP AT A DIFFERENT PLACE
