CD Player Skips

99 Pontiac GP with the GM/Delco single CD player. The CD's skip when I hit bumps.

Any suggestions on how to remidy this?

I should add this has gotten progressivly worse over the last year. Before that I had no problems. It is to the point now that even the smallest of bumps cause a skip.

Thanks in advance

Thats factory for ya. Does too depending on the size of the bump and how hard I hit it.

Quit hitting bumps or just listen while parked or listen to rap and you will never know when it skips.

Jeff not everything round is a CD. You have been putting in your kids records from their Playschool toy. Stop doing that, and the trouble will go away. :nono: That will be $20.00 please. :screwy:

Ive still got a bunch of 45's from back in the 60's early 70's and over 400 33's, I bought most of them when I was over in Germany in the Army 1975/1977.I still have my Sony PS4300 turntable that I bought over there also and play them from time to time.

Have a Yamaha. Still think it has the best sound.
And if the price of gas keeps going up, I'm buying a wagon, and have the Wife pull me to work.

Doesn't hurt to blow the dust out of it once in a while.

I find that some CDs are worse than others as well.

45 whats that one of those little CDs?

the cage for it is probably loose. you should have some one who knows how to install cd players in cars to pull it out and see if it is. otherwise just buy a better one

Mine did the exact same thing, the only solution is to buy a new headunit. Thats what I did, and if you go with an Alpine (or most aftermarket headunit) headunit you really get alot better sound quality.

I've though about changing mine out.
But how do you fill up that big space that the stock one uses?
And how does it look when finished?

They have radios that are sold for GM cars. They are the same size. They also make plates the fill the hole and have cut outs for your new smaller radios.
Good luck

Don't they even have those hole fillers that actually give you another little cuuby hole?

Thanx guys: It was just a thought, I spend two hours a day driving and the stock sound is actually pretty good.
And CDs I don't listen two in the car that much anyway.
The main reason I asked was out of all the GPs I've seen I've never saw a third party radio in the dash.
