98 GSR questions

can anyone give me a site to view car specs like 0-60 time, 1/4 mile time, etc.. this will help me out, so i can know what cars to stay away from. also i have a stock 98 gsr and i want to turbo it some day; with a turbo the car needs to breath easier, so i will need to get a 3" exhaust. is it ok to just get the 3" exhaust to better prepare my car for a turbo. or just wait for the 3" ehaust for when i already have the turbo.

3'' exhaust on a n/a GSR will probably be a bit to large. Will probably be loosing torque pretty badly. Usually you go above 2 1/2'' only if you are turboing, so if you do it before, I guess you will worse power, until you get that turbo on there.

Also this site (http://www.albeedigital.com/supercoupe/articles/0-60times.html) I've been using for 1/4 and 0-60 times. Some are just complete bull, but some are pretty accurate... If you look at the mustangs, it's going to be very favorable because it's the Ford super coupe club of Iowa or something like that.

Yeah, thats the site i check on a lot, I dont know how much i trust it though, but it gives you a good idea of where most cars rate.

yea some do sound off by a little: 1993 Acura Integra GS-R 6.5(0-60) 15.2(1/4 mi.) with 160hp, and the 1994 Acura Integra GS-R 7.1(0-60) 15.5(1/4 mi.) with a 170hp v-tec.

or is that right?

dead on my friend

i have seen many 3rd gen gs-r hit 15.1 also though. From what I gather though 2nd gen gs-r is generally considered quicker than 3rd gen. It is definately nominal and up to the driver in my opinion.

I agree with knorwj, it really depends on the driver. The older GSR's have a closer gear ratio that helps them more right? Anyway, I know that I can take a mustang GT from a roll at about 40 with a little bit of struggle. Off the line, it depends on how good a driver the mustang driver is (bad driver = too much wheel spin and I get ahead and they have trouble) once it goes past 60 though, the mustangs totally loose out in third gear. And damnit... I'm so close to beating a cobra... I had a really good race with one a little while back. I got a small jump on him at about 50mph. It took the cobra til about 80mph or so til it passed me. It really wasn't that fast. Gimme my ITR exhaust and header (which has just recently been installed) and I'll see about that Cobra again.

is there a way to change the gear ratio, to beat the mustang gt badly. or will a short throw shifter do it.(this is still stock vs. stock.)

It also depends on the year .. if its a newer model u have less of a chance ... If it's 99 or above its capable of running low 14's ... a short throw shifter won't get u there hahaha

WAIT... how does a '93 GSR take a 94 GSR by over half a second? that makes NO SENCE!!!

It's not a half of a second. And it's due mainly to the fact that the 2nd gen integras are lighter (correct me if I'm wrong) and they have a shorter gear ratio, closer gears.

isnt 6.5 seconds the same time for an ITR? because i doubt that a GSR could take down a ITR.

6.5 seconds is 0-60. i'm not sure about 0-60 of a type R.

as far as 1/4 mile times it generally goes like this for stock integras:

type R: 14.7-14.9

92 and 93 gs-r (with a slight advantage to 93): 15-15.2
94-up gs-r: 15.1-15.4

the second gen gs-r is lighter, and has a better gear ratio i'm told, which make up for its 10 hp difference.

keep in mind though that 92 and 93 integras are nearing 15 years old and with age, wear&tear, and mileage. a cars power and speed tend to decrease a bit. I ran a 15.1 flat when I bought my car 3 years ago. I can assure you it would no longer do that.

would it be a good idea to put a 93 tranny in 3rd generation teg? i also heard that civic Si trannys have a really good ratio.

that would be way to much work. 94 and up are hydraulic trannies and the 92 and 93 are cable trannies. If youwanted a better geared tranny for 94+ I wouldget a type tranny, But gs-r trannies aren't all that bad.

is that why people generally like the 2nd gen. better than the 3rd gen.
