98 LX Swap Sugestions pleaseNYCivic 03-27-2005, 02:19 PM sup ya'll.... I have a 98 LX sedan. I've done most of the cosmetic work for now and I'M READY TO SWAP OUT THE ENGINE, but i need some advice on what to get/do. these are some of the things that people have suggested i get/do: - b16 a,b,c (1st, 2nd etc gen) whats the diff other than HP? - b18 (do i need to get the axles if so? what else would i need? should i just get a front clip? - turbo the engine that i already have (which is a sohc) - get one of the b series and turbo it? also, should i take the barrels off the rear and put on discs? i just want to make the car a lot faster for now, more pick up and faster on the highway. THANKS A MILLION exman98 03-27-2005, 09:00 PM CivicSpoon 03-27-2005, 09:05 PM Ok well first you will need to let us know a few things. How much are you looking to spend, what kind of power are you looking for? B16a 1st gen (SiR or XSi) is OBD0 (pre '92), B16a 2nd gen (SiR2) is OBD1 and some OBD2, B16b Civic Type R is OBD2. And there is no B16c only a B18c. Because you live in NY with their new emissions checks you will need to get an OBD2a engine ('96-'98 engine). Yes you will need axles, mounts, transmission, and ecu. For the turbo you'll need to make sure it is a carb/street legal kit, because of emissions. For the rest, you'll need to answer the 2 questions above to help narrow it down. Changing from drum to disk brakes is a personal thing. If you're going for a lot more power then you should consider doing it. Thanks for the complete swap info... now as far as how much i wanna spend, for the swap alone, no more the 3500-4000 for the b18, and 2500-3000 for the b16. the emmisions checks is no problem for me :smokin: i can get around that. the turba should come later on.. maybe next summer. is gettin the b18 with all the axles and wut not worth it or should i just go with the b16? i guess 170-200 hp is good for now. i wanna be sure that when i make the turbo upgrade that i have the better of the 2 engines for it. i also wanna make the sawp and get it built up at the same time. I FINALLY GOT THE TIME TO READ THE SWAP INFO YOU PULLED UP AND POSTED... IT WAS EXTREMELY HELPFULL. I THINK I'M GONNA GO WITH THE B16b. SOUNDS LIKE THE WINNER. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
