Off-road Tires

Hey, I'm kinda new to this so if i'm doing something wrong tell me.

But i have an 87 Toyota Pickup 4X4 and i need to decide what tires to put on it. I have a set of three prong Toyota Rims off of a 97 Tacoma and they are 16" rims. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What do you use the truck for? Off road, On road, snow, mud, etc...?
Yokahoma Geolander A/T's are one of the best all around tire for the money. About $89 a tire for 31.50.

I want a tire that will go offroad when i want to, NO PROBLEM. But they do not make alot of road noise on the highway like boggers.

I would definitely go with the Yokahoma Geolander AT's then. They are cheaper than the BFG's and in my opinion a much better tire. Alot of your off-road junkies swear by this tire. I personally will never buy anything but Yokahoma Geolanders. Good luck.

I buy them at a local Tire and Oil shop. But I would imagine any good tire place would carry them. They should all be able to special order them if they do not stock them. Another good tire would be the Kuhmo Venture AT's. I put them on my, excuse me, my daughters 89 king-cab 4x4. The highway noise is minimal, yet the off-road traction is very good for that type of tire. And the price was unbeatable around Charleston SC

BFG mud terrains or all terrains. i have the muds and they dont make any noice hardly at all on the road. ive had them on my truck for 2+ years and there still lots of tread. or you could pick up some type of goodyear all terrain or the MTR. im getting the 37 mtrs next.

I like the sound my tires make. To me, that's part of having a 4x4 truck. I believe on a '87, the biggest tire you can mount without a lift of some sort is 32x11.50. The last place I bought tires said I could put 33x12.50 on but I've heard they rub in tight turning...

i was looking at this thread and this guys running 38s with no lift on his toyota. its an 86.

I don't know how he did that, I've tried to put 35x15's on my '84 and they wouldn't fit without hitting the wheel wells. I guess if you cut the wheel wells out and put some spacers on it, it may be possible, seems to me to be easier jst to lift the truck...

ya i think he trimmed it just a little bit, im not sure..it doesnt looked trimmed though. id throw on some lift though.
