1999 Toyota Cavalier MisfiresDavinice 03-25-2005, 10:01 PM I have a 1999 Toyota Cavalier 2.4L from Japan. My problem with the car is that it gives black smoke out from the exhaust and burned alot of gas. I scanned the computer and it shows misfire, so I have checked the coil cover, spark plugs, and even send my computer to a Chevrolet car dealers in Florida but they couldn't scan it. They said that it is different with the chevrolet cavalier. I don't know what to do next, so can anyone help me to solve this problem? Thanks a Lot! nickelfish19 03-25-2005, 11:51 PM never heard of the toyota cavalier. and this is a chevy cavalier site. so I don't know if anyone here would be able to help youi but you never know. nickelfish19 03-26-2005, 12:05 AM ok after some research I found it. I really had no idea that chevy and toyota got togethter to sell the cavalier in japan. I guess this will be a blow to all those who want to hate imports. inarifennec 03-26-2005, 02:08 AM oh psh they make a lot of cool things for the Toyota Cavalier. you should see their center console for the AT it's freakin sweet... let me get you a link here... http://www.street-line.net/jdm/toy_cav/toy_cav_1.htm Enjoy. they have some cool things there. inarifennec 03-26-2005, 02:12 AM hmm honestly about the misfire codes... You might wanna try your local import tuner and see what he says. I'm not sure how much of a handle GM has on the Cavalier JP style. hopefully someone will give you better advice. Classicrocjunkie 03-26-2005, 06:40 AM The yoda cavalier is the same thing as a Z24. Only thing different is its right hand drive, alot of interior upgrades and things written in Jap. Few other exterior mods aswell. The Infamous Yoda tails and badged as a toyota. Sounds like your running extremly rich for sure. Check and see the status of your O2 sensors and you might also have a clogged injector or leaky on at that. Maybe even a bad spark plug boot. I'm not a pro on the LD9 but those are what i would check first. DaMoNe6969 03-26-2005, 08:50 AM yes yes.. running extremly rich.. This could be caused by a lot of things.. Ide check the simple tune-up related items first.. plugs, wires, timing, etc.. then move onto the more $$ things like your O2 sensor and coils... Im sure the problem will be one of those things.. If what Classicrocjunkie was saying is true, than its got a cavy motor in it.. (dont know nuthin about them) but I do know toyotas'..
