Big problem just came up when i was changing my valve cover gaskets. Everything was going smoothly. I replaced the spark plug gaskets, bolt gaskets, and the main gasket. When i was putting on the last bolt (one of the longer ones) it got tighter and than looser. Once that happened i said to myself *Son of a b***h. Now one of my valve cover bolt is stripped. The bolt itself it fine but its the threads in the head itself. WHAT DO I DO!!!! HELP. I need to be able to drive my car asap. I can handle this weekend. What do i do magic gurus of car wisdom :grinno:

I'd recommend you take the valve cover off and vacuum up any metal chips (if you haven't done that already) and install a helicoil. If you don't want to try to install the helicoil yourself most any mechanic can do it for you. I'd say you could drive it with the bolt missing but be prepared to clean up an oil leak (obviously). Keep us posted. GL

I didnt have to clean up any metal scraps because the entire part of the thread( on the engine head) was curled up on the bolt. At first i thought the bolt got stripped, but than i removed all the metal from the bolt and found out that it was from the head. It sucks i know. Ya i am gonna install a helicoil with my pops. As i was doing that i found another problem. My exhaust manifold is freaking cracked in the middle lol. Right above the dam o2 sensor. SO i need to find a replacement. Its a stock header so wont be too high on ebay. Just need to wait for the perfect time when someone posts it on ebay. Hopefully not too much oil is going to be missing, because it is a brand new gasket, but i dont know much about that from experience.

Cool, good to hear you've got a solution in progress.

True, you can find an OEM replacement on eBay but how about the local junkyards? Someone's gotta have your type exhaust manifold. GL
