smell after tire rotation and oil changetriddick 03-24-2005, 07:57 PM I am new to the Mustang world and don't know anything about cars. I bought a certified used 2004 V6 Mustang in January and just had my oil changed and tires rotated. Now I smell a sort of burning smell after I get out. It's not smoke but it does smell like a curling iron (I'm a girl :-) or like something steel that has some oil on it. It's been about 6 days now since I noticed the smell and I don't think it is excess oil from that oil change because I smelled that on my previous car. Any ideas would be helpful. I popped the hood and the smell isn't coming from there. tturnpaw 03-24-2005, 09:44 PM I am new to the Mustang world and don't know anything about cars. Just in case it might be leaking though, you should park it on cement or in a garage or something (if it already isnt) and see if there are any oil drips left on the floor when you pull out. Otherwise it should be going away, no real harm can come from just an oil change unless they dont know what they are doing. GTStang 03-25-2005, 01:26 AM After 6 days any oil that was spilled shoulda been burnt off by now... I'd check for leaks like said. If you don't find any maybe try changing the oil to a thicker one. You may have got too thin of an oil and your getting some of it past your rings and burning it up. triddick 03-25-2005, 09:24 PM I am new to the Mustang world and don't know anything about cars. That will do it, now stop driving through trash! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2010, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
