JDM engine and trannyHighFidelity 03-23-2005, 08:31 PM I have a 91 turbo with a bunch of mods, but unfortunatly i have an engine with only 80 lbs of compression on each cylinder. Im looking for a replacement engine and wanted to know what everyone recomonded. Pickin up a JDM enginge, or should i look for a rear clip. and if so which one should i look for if i wanted the LSD. ANy help would be appreciated on what i should look for and where i might find it. thanks guys. JekylandHyde 03-24-2005, 08:37 AM Your compression is EVEN in all 4 cylinders? It would be very unusual that all 4 cylinders would be low. If they are even, I think you should have another comp check done. It sounds like a healthy motor to me. I avoid "JDM" engines. I rather work with something that is supported here (in the U.S.). LSD was an option in the 93+ MR2s. HighFidelity 03-24-2005, 11:23 AM the first 2 cylinders are in the low low 100 and the 3 and 4 are 80's. if i purchase a rear clip 93+ will it have a ll the components i need to do the transplant. and if you where could i go about finding one? thanks a lot JekylandHyde 03-24-2005, 11:25 AM I would talk to Dave at http://www.paautoracing.com/ Tell him I sent you. He can supply you with what you want. Good luck with your car. Brian R. 03-24-2005, 12:30 PM Might be your valve timing is wrong from the last time the timing belt was changed - or maybe it jumped a tooth. That might explain the low but fairly even compression. Carcatz 03-24-2005, 12:59 PM could your head gasked be blown between the cylinders??? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
