mpg concerns my first tacomafuufman 03-23-2005, 05:57 PM I just bought my first tacoma its a 98 4x4 with the 2.7.My gas milage is only 15mpg city and highway combined.I just did a tune up on it too. This is my first manual vehicle so maybe i'm just not good at driving it yet.Where should the rpm's be when I shift?I have been shifting at about 2500 in all gears. Thanks for the help tacoma man. 03-23-2005, 07:46 PM i also have a 2.7 5 speed 4x4 tacoma. it gets 23-26 mpg. i shift to 2nd about 15 or 20 mph, 3rd at 30 4th 40 and then 5th 50 mph. mines not equipt with a tach. fuufman 03-23-2005, 08:45 PM The factory sticker mpg on my truck when it was brand new was 18 mpg combined city highway,so I don't expect that because it's seven years old now but at least 17 would be nice. tacoma man. 03-24-2005, 07:20 PM it has to be more than that! i drive mine 50 miles a day to work all week long on a full tank of gas, sounds like it may need a tune up, plugs, wires, oxygen sensors....ect. gas mileage for the 2.7's are better than that. but now i know a guy that has a 03 tacoma with the same engine, tranny, and its a 4x4 and his anly gets 19 mpg. fuufman 03-24-2005, 10:02 PM If you go to epa.com you can put in the info for any vehicle and it will tell you what the factory mpg was when it was new.On a 98 tacoma 2.7 4x4 it's 18.It sounds low to me too ,but thats what it says. fuufman 03-24-2005, 10:06 PM If you go to toyota.com and search gas milage it will gave you a link to the epa website. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
