Standard tire size for 95 LX?SonOfDolomite 03-22-2005, 11:08 AM I am seeing 2 different sizes being thrown out when shopping for tires online. Currently I have 205/70/15, but some sites say 215/70/15 for the LX. Not quite sure which one to go with.. any ideas? garync1 03-22-2005, 11:14 AM Tires are my business. I like the 215 my self but 205 are good too. Just personal preff. Both to me ride the same. Gary SonOfDolomite 03-22-2005, 11:21 AM Wow, thanks for the quick response! Correct me if im wrong, the only difference would be is that the 215 would be slightly taller not wider, right? garync1 03-22-2005, 11:27 AM Forgot to mention the best riding tire type is a 235/75/r15 . Thats was a study for the tire industry has said. Not all cars, trucks and vans can use these because ht and wt of the car truck or van. A wider foot print gives better stabilty a taller tire gives a better ride. gary garync1 03-22-2005, 11:36 AM 215 is how tall it is the 70 is how wide and the 15 is the diameter . garync1 03-22-2005, 11:45 AM OHH NO!! 215 is the how wide and 70 is how tall 15 being the diameter.I am sorry I made the mistake not thinking. 215 will give you better stabilty than the 205 sorry for the mix up every body makes that mistake and I did it my self .. I would get fired for that mix up.. LOL SonOfDolomite 03-22-2005, 11:53 AM OHH NO!! 215 is the how wide and 70 is how tall 15 being the diameter.I am sorry I made the mistake not thinking. 215 will give you better stabilty than the 205 sorry for the mix up every body makes that mistake and I did it my self .. LOL Heh, its all good, thanks for the quick reply though, I think i'll shoot for the 215. wiswind 03-22-2005, 07:21 PM OK,,,,another website that I have found to be very useful... www.tirerack.com They are GREAT for research. If you read reviews on tires....focus on reviews written by people with minivans. I currently have Michelin "Harmony".... They are great. I need a tire that will be good in snow....as I live in Wisconsin....and it seemed that this tire was the best compromise. They have been great in the snow, as well as puddles, dry road, etc. They also seem to have a nice lineup of rotors and pads for your brakes..... I think that it goes without saying....but I will say it anyhow, you want to make sure that all the tires on your car are the same size. garync1 03-23-2005, 08:10 AM OK,,,,another website that I have found to be very useful... www.tirerack.com They are GREAT for research. If you ware those michelins out try our Good year assurance tire. Not to try too sell them to you. They have Valcanic ash in the rubber to help with snow and Ice.. And there a cross between performance and all weather tire. I have heard there a little pricey though. Right now we are working on and just releasing a tire with Kevlar side walls for truck and sport utility vecs. NOt intended to be bullet proof but close when it comes to off roading makes the tire lighter than the dura wall side wall we have. Later,Gary cougarman 03-23-2005, 09:01 AM Check the decal near the drivers door striker,, It would tell you which tires are recommended for your van SonOfDolomite 03-23-2005, 09:07 AM tirerack.com was the first spot I checked out. I'm leaning toward the Kuhmo Touring A/S 795, the price was good and it received some very good reviews, even folks with mini vans had good things to say. As with you, snow rating is a big consideration since im out in Utah and from what I have seen, it received a very good rating. jtman04401 03-25-2005, 05:03 PM The correct tire size for you're van will be stated on the sticker on the drivers side door piller. Just open the door and look at the piller and you will find the correct size. 205-70-15 is the correct size for a 1995 LX as I just replaced mine yesterday. lol. I went with the 215-60-15 as they are close to same height but a bit wider. Be carefull though, I live in Maine and it is state law that if you do not have toe correct tire size on you're vehicle it is NOT inspectable. (If you're state requires inspections) Stupid huh? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
