300zx or 240sxHanster24 03-21-2005, 05:00 AM i used to have a 240sx, and i liked it alot, it went bye bye. Im looking for a car and I dont know what i want, i found a 1990 300zx for a good price, and a 240sx that does not run, but it has some nice rims and this "Super Hicas" <-- does that slow the car down at all? Anyway i was wondering wich car sould i get!! Chuki_breath 03-21-2005, 08:03 AM super hicas is 4 wheel steering. It wont slow the car down, but isnt recommended for drifting because well it helps you grip the turns not slide. I have a 240 with and a 240 without and you can feel a difference when you take a turn at highspeed. So if you like the track and or auto-x, the HICAS maybe a good buy for you. I think the back wheels only turn 1/4 inch. I dont know its all in my manual. But personally i would get the 240 over the old ass 300's. Jhtunner 03-21-2005, 10:14 AM Hold Up, there a 4 wheel steer model? Can U tell me what year or model has that? thx SHIFT_KA24DE 03-21-2005, 12:45 PM i think it only came in the fastbacks... and not all of them. Just because they are SE... doesn't mean they have it either.. i think you have to check it out yourself. Supposedly, there's a pump or some mechanism behind the rear differential and axle. R.W.240 03-21-2005, 04:19 PM super hicas is 4 wheel steering. It wont slow the car down, but isnt recommended for drifting because its slow to react, inaccurate, and will generally help you put your car into a tree tehe Soyo 03-21-2005, 05:19 PM jack the car up and turn the wheel all the way one directions and watch the back tires, thats the way my cousin figured out if his had it lol but to answer your question it matters what you want the car for... if you want to drift, autox, or something like that I'd vote 240sx but if you want to drag more with some autox or something then go 300zx Chuki_breath 03-21-2005, 07:52 PM first of all that doesnt work!!!!! it only turns over a certain speed. So i guess he still doesnt no...or wait he could look at his dash and read the light that says HICAS!!!!!!!! wow kids these days. If he doesnt have one....well then i guess he'd know finally. Soyo 03-21-2005, 10:25 PM no, jacked up it still turns just a tiny bit but if you look close you can tell... it just doesn't turn very far... I watched my cousins wheels when he did it. Hit_N_Run-player 03-21-2005, 11:29 PM why would this guy come here to have us pick out his car? i hate when people do this, go drive them both and see which you think is better. Hanster24 03-23-2005, 10:00 AM k, the Super hicas seems to only be avalible for the 1991 240sx hatchback, i was wrong about the year of the 300zx, its a 1992, and the 240sx is a 1991 300zx - $3000.00 140,000 miles ---/--- 240sx $1800.00 120,000 on body, 70,000 on engine, "240sx doesnt run" Hit_N_Run-player 03-23-2005, 02:54 PM is it manual? where is it located? LaYzIeNoY 03-23-2005, 10:18 PM the kouki fastback could have it, and only the fastback as in japan they were 180sx's which were different form the silvia's generally if you had HICAS, you also got a LSD, and ABS hicas only turns the rear wheels a few degrees left or right as was already said, 300zx is better for drag and some Auto-X the 240sx is better for drifting and auto-X due to weight, to drift disable the hicas Hit_N_Run-player 03-23-2005, 11:06 PM they make kits that put a bar on the rear wheels to disable the hicas and you just unglug the switch, but i would just steer away from any HICAS type 240. And yes, i also think that all the hicas models had an LSD. logik23 03-24-2005, 01:35 PM but i would just steer away from any HICAS type 240. LOL, good one, btw, some Z32s had HICAS, or was it just JDM Z32s? Hit_N_Run-player 03-24-2005, 05:58 PM did you read that as a joke? becuase i didnt even realize what i said LOL Chuki_breath 03-24-2005, 06:10 PM ok boons who think that the rear wheels turn when the car is on jack stands...i quote from the owners manual here. "THe super hicas (high capacity actively controlled suspension) is an advanced electronically controlled 4-wheel steering system. The angle fo the rear wheels are adjusted by the SUPER HICAS system, depending on the vehicle speed and steering angle. THe rear wheels are designed to turn momentarily in the opposite direction and then change to the same direction as the front wheels. AT LOW SPEEDS, THE REAR WHEELS WILL NOT TURN AND THE SYSTEM FUNCTIONS AS A 2-WHEEL SYSTEM." end quote. Unless he has the god damn car floared on jack stands (which isnt safe) and turns the wheels, i dont see how you saw his wheels turn. plus you can feel it when it kicks in....if it turned at low speeds you wouldnt even notice the feeling....trust me you know when it works, cuz it feels like your going to slide off the road (your stomach feels as if your on a roller coaster)!!!! But all you get is grip, its pretty damn cool if you ask me. But if your into to drifting, well then its not needed for you. By the way mines a 92 hatch and it has it. Hit_N_Run-player 03-24-2005, 06:12 PM pwnage anyone??lol, nice find. logik23 03-24-2005, 11:40 PM Wow, defenataly some ownage there. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
