89 accord problem

Sometimes unexpectedly the power to my stereo will go out and my rpm needle begins to jump and the car begins to jerk and then all of the power goes out like the battery is dead and then all the power will come back like normal. What is going on? Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like an ignition switch going bad. A question: If your headlights are on, do they go out?

Yes the headlights go out as well.

Guess it is not an ignition switch. Loose connection at the fuse box??

Look for a loose connection at the alternatior also.
