I DESPERATELY need an entire new speedometer gauge cluster as MIne's is completely shot...

i have this cat that will sell me one for bout $50 a pop and "adjust" the speedometer to read whatever i tell him to?

not too concerned wit the legalities of this as I WILL never ever sell my cars, that my baby!! but uhm will that wreck the gauge in anyway?

or am being a fool and this is normal and can easily be done? aka its a common thing?

Well I'm no brain surgeon, but yeah, that's illegal. Carfax reports will red flag that shit real quick. But, If your not going to sell it, and you want to imagine your car has 5,000 miles, knock yourself out. My cluster is acting up on my 96 civic also, I think I'm going the si or type-r route.

its not taht i want to imagine my car having 5,000 miles, its that my car has 70k on it and I want whatever gauge i get to read correctly, aka accurately... so basically if buy one wit 30k it'd be off in my case and i haven't been able to find one wit my exact mileage or even close..

where you gettin your's from?

if you live and cali and your speedometer reading shows up lower than suppose to be, you will run into trouble with the DMV. because it is illegal in the state of CA. you will be speaking with one of the dmv investigators. im sure it is the same with any other state.

Carfax does not report anything you don't tell them. Carfax only receives info from State and agency's and then makes it public notice kinda like your credit report. If you change your cluster you cabn simply remove your odometer and put it in your new cluster.

let me know your thoughts and info on this..

thanks

when you smog your car, the mileage is recorded. when you take it to the dmv, and its lower than 2 years ago. you will have a problem. report it to the dmv and you will be fine.

odometer fraud is a felony in the state california.
