elec. seat setting proceedure

I was wonder if any one knows the procedure for setting the two front seat auto adjustment system memory buttons, located on the drivers door, using the keyless entery key fob (remote transmitter). I have a 97' Grand Cherokee. Tried instructions from manual but doesn't seem to work.

set the seat where you want it,then press the set button.the red led sholud start blinking then you press either #1 or 2 to set that one.it also sets the memory mirrors
