I saw some pictures of the new GT-R and can't wait for it to go on sale. I'm predicting that the GT-R will sell quicker than any other car Nissan has ever sold in north america. Many of the major magazines in the USA don't seem to appriciate the GT-R in my opinion. It is only a matter of time before the launch of the GT-R in america and i'm willing to wait.

I'm guessing in the $60,000+ price range.

I think saying it will sell faster than any other nissan is a stretch. If that really were the case, then the s2000, corvette, and other supercars would be top sellers also. I agree with you on the excitement of the skyline coming to US shores, but don't think it will be the best seller. Price will be too high and plus some people just don't want/need a performer like the skyline. :2cents:

No. Concrete information on a production GT-R is a good two years off.

to Drift: US $60K nah... try $80K+, dude unfortunately the r34 gt-r's sold for 1,000,000+ yen easily brend new. Like all ways will get screw with a waterdown version here in the US and still pay TOP-DOLLAR, compared to the JDM release.
Don't look to far EVO's(no s-ayc in US version), or the STi(no ej20t~9000rpm, no STi WRC tranny box). Yeah I HATE that!!! (=_=)

?HuH? We got the EVO MR and the WRX STI in the US...

I'm sure we will get the same version this time around... it being a world-wide release and all.

JDM_ONLY was just saying that he thinks the US-market GT-R will be watered down, like the Evo and STi were. He said the USDM Evo didn't get SAYC, which is true. There was a problem with the size of the rear differential(where SAYC is located); it got in the way of some emissions equipment needed on the US-market Evo. It also didn't get the six-speed tranny, which was exclusive to the MR. There are also some extra bumper supports needed for the US model, which explains the longer nose on the VIII vs the VII, as well as additional weight. The other markets don't need the supports, so they were left out.

As for the STi...well, we ended up with the EJ25. I've heard the stock engine mapping wasn't very good, and that some owners had detonation in stock form. Other than that, I don't know of much watering down, since I'm an Evo fan.

Yeah. There can't be that many differences. There definitely shouldn't be a different engine for anyone. Developing and testing two engines would be prohibitively expensive.

um... with the STI, the engine in the states is 500cc bigger then the one everywhere else...

how is that watered down?

and sorry if this thread is considered too old to reply too... but honestly, its the only one here anyway...

Bah I'm not too excited about it that much. I was hoping to eventually be a skyline owner now it seems like I'll be just an enthusist because 60K+ is too much. Maybe I'll just get a G35 or perhaps a 350Z there better I guess.
