That's what I always do. But look to the future when you get your GT and then challenge him again. But for now, take your losses as they come. I do, and it personally helps me to realize that I am much slower than I really think I am. L8... youngvr4 03-16-2005, 05:32 PM NO!! i refuse to believe that a 4000LB Boat can kill my 3100 LB Steed...230HP in a huge ass car wont do it any good......Victory is eminent    :iceslolan yep you'll loose!!! Nice job btw HighRev. Beat me to the job  I had you in mind :smokin: LOL BTW: Your sig =WTFness? CamaroSSBoy346 03-16-2005, 10:59 PM ...wait..what were we talking about? Okay, back on topic. Remember size isnt everything. The non-splitport 3.8L made 150-160HP. Then factor in drive train loss.. The NPI 4.6, which was used in Grand Marquis/Crown Vic up untill 99 or newer. Not quite sure. Anywho, 93-95 NPI 4.6's made 205 HP. Then some came with the optional dual exhaust, so give or take a few HP. 96's came with a better intake, giving them 5+ HP. Then add in the cars hefty curb weight. Then add in the granny gears... From a dig, the Marquis will defintaly keep up with you, or walk away from you. Probably the later, but still. From a roll, the Marquis should still be able to walk away from you. Notice..I didnt say run away from you. fearsomefairmont 03-17-2005, 01:23 AM Those Grand Marquis are actually pretty peppy. I had a '94 with 165K and trust me, that car could still fly good, especially from a roll (did 110+ on freeway EASY). It was slower off the line due to traction control being activated when the tires would spin. They are indeed 205+ hp cars. The cop versions have a couple more ponies b/c dual exhaust, better rear-end gears (3.73) and limited slip diffs. They even make supercharger kits for them, can you say SLEEPER! They are also very comfortable cars that get great mileage, up to 28-30 mpg freeway. I know as I put 18K on mine last year. They are an honest 16 flat car if tuned up well. That will keep up with its share of posers, and definitely will probably beat you! Anyways, good luck on your kill or death, whichever goes down. Don't bore us with mustang pipe dreams. If you can't afford to buy one, start doing some research to build one. I know I sure as hell can't afford a new car, so I bought a clapped-out one and am fixing it up. It isn't easy but my 10K dollar car will be faster and look just as good as your "mustang." Cheers Igovert500 03-17-2005, 11:41 AM Those Grand Marquis are actually pretty peppy. I had a '94 with 165K and trust me, that car could still fly good yeah...they can fly damn well...especially when the brakes fail and you hit a high curb , trust ME http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=238354&highlight=grand clawhammer 03-17-2005, 12:05 PM You never finished the story. What happened Igovert? I'm assuming that you didn't have to pay for it, because otherwise we would have heard about it. Plus, if the car was going to fail, the consequences would have been probably far greater if it happened while some grandpa was driving it. Plus, if the car was going to fail, the consequences would have been probably far greater if it happened while some grandpa was driving it. Haha, I didn't even realize I never finished the story. Well here goes: They drug tested me an hour after the accident (I passed  ) and checked me out They sent me home from work, and I returned the next day. A day or two later I got a really bad sinus infection (first of my life) and would get really bad incapacitating headaches and such off and on for a week) Now I don't know if it was from the chemicals/smoke from the airbag as some suspected...only problem for me was that I had 'faked a headache/sick' the day before the accident because my girlfriend had been visiting. My boss had said get a doctor's note...I lied :uhoh: and said that I had gone, but forgot the note early the day of the accident...so when I really got the headache...I had to deal with it and go to work, and had pretty much shot myself in the foot for any sort of worker's comp or anything...but that was my own fault and I deserved it. So over the next few days, everyone cracked jokes about my upcoming career as a stunt driver. I got a few letters from insurance companies with info on workers comp and stuff, which I pretty much ignored...and the 'official Ford' guys...well let's just say nobody ever heard anything about it. So basically, everyone is pretty sure that they didn't say anything in fear of me suing....but as we all know, I screwed myself over on that one...so yeah, nothing happened, except I am now a company legend  So every time I go back to visit while I'm back in town, and there are new employees, my manager will introduce me as "you remember hearing about that guy who got the mercury airborne and put those grooves in the concrete curb over there...this is him" :evillol: TheStang00 03-17-2005, 05:30 PM lol that is pretty funny youngvr4 03-17-2005, 05:56 PM damn!! clawhammer 03-17-2005, 06:28 PM Cool.
