Hi,

My 2000 SLK 230 Kompressor had a "check engine light" so i hooked up my OBD II Code Reader and it gave me the following:

P0410 - Secondary Air Injection System Malfunction.

Can you let me know the possible reason for this? Is this a major problem?...i have STOPPED driving the car and want to consult this forum before i turn it to a mechanic (cos they will rip me off!)...

any help will be greatly appreciated

Thanks,
Twins

It's not a major problem. I can't remember any specific problems with your engine but whenever I get one of those codes the first thing I do is look for any loose, broken, or rotten hoses especially around the air pump. Another thing I have seen with a code like that is the metal air injection line from the EGR valve to the e/a actuator get clogged with residue(very common on 104 in-line 6 engines). Thats a pretty involved job to clean but not to expensive. Now just remember it could be a lot of different things that set a code, but without proper testing equipment you are just guessing, so I would recommend a good service tech diagnose it before you go replacing egr valves and such. As far as not driving it, you should be fine to drive it to a shop.

hey talonlover, the 111 motor don't have no air pump, uses the Kompressor, (supercharger), as an air pump, bring it to us, the dealer, your welcome
