I was wondering I got a camry 93 xle, race in 'D' mode with 'PWR' button on or go from L, to 2 then D with overdrive off and then turn it on?

Keep it in drive, brake torque it a LITTLE bit at the launch, and you'll be good to go.

For some reason everytime I use L and 2, I feel much more power? Than the D

if your going from a roll, or trying to go fast at like60mph+ turn overdrive off so you dont have to wait for it to downshift. My dad had a 1994 camry, and it was much faster from like 60 if you turned overdrive off

Yeah they are lower, but you might feel a differance if the car shifts before the redline...My dads 94 camry shifted a few hundred under the redline, but it was faster then moving the shifter. Trust me, that really does nothing. Sometimes it feels faster if your in control aswell

with my car, in 1st gear it runs to redline at full throttle, in 2nd gear it shifts about 400 short of redline....so what I do if I am racing from a dig is leave it in D, and as soon as it shifts into 2nd by itself, I manually move the shifter to 2 so I can run right up to the redline, and then when I get there, I put it back in D and let it ride....o/d off the whole time, BTW.

The thing is with 'D' is that it sometimes barely accelerates, sometimes its really good. I haven't tried L, 2 that much, but everytime I did, it gave me its full power.

Here is an example, in D. I stop press gas half way, 5 secs later, all the way, in 2 seconds it gets its power. Or driving 20mph, no gas, press gas little more than half way, lots of power.

because the transmission is in a higher gear and your economy automatic is taking a bit to downshift.

when you are doing 20 the trans is in a lower gear.

Get a shift kit a nd it won't delay so much on the downshift.

:1: Yeah R is for REdline shifts. When you have it in R it bumps up the redline in each gear making your car a lot faster. When I put it in R in my car it makes my butt cheeks pucker. :icon16:

haha what about P for Passing mode? and N for nitrous boost? most people don't know this, but every car comes with a small 35 shot of nitrous, standard, thats what the N mode is for!

well heres some advice, put it in Nitrous Mode, rev the RPMS to 5,000 or so. Then but it into Racing mode. That will will be cool.

I don't speak for your intentions, but I do speak as a moderator and expect to be listened to. And when I say knock it off, I mean it...

It may be harmless fun to you, but this crap happened in the Honda/Acura forum awhile back, when another member thought it was funny to give people quite dangerous advice...and some almost listened and could have destroyed their cars and hurt themselves.

No offense but if anyone decides to take the advice from an online board then it's their problem if they hurt themselves. They should be smart enough not to be believing everything on the internet...we're not their parents and have no obligation to make sure they don't kill themselves.

On that note :rolleyes:, Leave it in drive and some of you should really pay more attention to moderator request's, my :2cents:.
