I just bought a 1994 Ford Probe SE. IT needed a new waterpump, belt, thermostat and raditor cap. I had all these repairs done and it STILL over heats. IT mostly over heats when I"m driving put when I"m stopped at a traffic light or something with the car running, the temp gauge goes down. Can anyone give me some adive on what it might be. Thanks a lot. :banghead:

Same thing is happening to my 91 Probe lx and I changed the spark plug wires, water pump housing, thermostat, and it still over heats.

From the sounds of it, you may have a bad head gasket, or one that's getting close to going bad. If you've changed the water pump & thermostat, disconnect both the upper and lower hoses, plug the outlets on the radiator, and flush both the radiator and the entire cooling system with a garden hose to ensure the water can circulate. Then refill the system with fresh 50/50 mix, and if it still overheats, you just may be looking at a head gasket.
