I'm trying to figure out what size small block is in my '66.
I can't read the casting numbers.
It's got an 8" damper on it.

Any ideas?

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure the engine is non-original.

You need to get the nubers off the passenger side of the block on the tab below the front edge of the head. That nuber corresponds to the size and birthplace and date of manufacture. The last 3 digits determines the engine size and car.
Engine ID Code Example: V0101CLJ - (V = Plant, 01 = Month, 01 = Day, CLJ = Engine Suffix Code)
Another example: T0830CTY - (T = Tonawanda, 08 = August, 30 = 30th day, CTY = 1970 396 Camaro, 375 hp, 11.0:1, TH400)

Hope this helps give me the numbers and I should beable to determine it. :smokin:

The stamped number on the pad is V06223PJC. I can't find a source that tells me about that suffix code (PJC). The only casting numbers I can see on the top rear left side of the block block read: 57LG
SG1
