1997 Town & Country Headlight Bulb Replacementmjkoz 03-13-2005, 02:47 PM Hi - Can anyone tell me the steps to replace the headlight bulb in a 97 T&C? I noticed that teh plug has some sort of retainer. I imagine that you have to slightly pry that apart to pull the plug off the existing bulb. Then, is there a retainer or something holding the bulb in, or is it simply a twist and pull bulb? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks. GTP Dad 03-13-2005, 07:24 PM It has been a while but I believe you need to turn the retaining ring off prior to trying to remove the light. Once you remove the retaining ring the light bulb and socket should pull out. When you go to replace the light make sure to line the tabs on the light socket up inside the lamp. If you try to force them you will damage the light. mjkoz 03-13-2005, 09:37 PM It has been a while but I believe you need to turn the retaining ring off prior to trying to remove the light. I might call the dealer too and ask them for any pointers. They're usually pretty good about it. Thanks again! evictor 03-13-2005, 11:38 PM I assume the Town and Country are the same as the 1997 caravan. On mine I had to turn the retaining clip 1/4 turn counter clockwise. The bulb comes out when you remove the retaining clip. I was told that you should make sure you use cloth when you hold the new bulb. Grease from your hand will reduce the life of the new bulb. Just be glad you dont have a ford explorer. In the explorer you have to remove the battery to get access. Engineers got to love them....NOT mjkoz 03-14-2005, 08:02 AM I assume the Town and Country are the same as the 1997 caravan. On mine I had to turn the retaining clip 1/4 turn counter clockwise. Is the retaining clip the large plastic piece that appears to help protect the plug connector? I have heard about not touching the bulb too. I guess that's true for all halogen bulbs. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
