KiCFlip5 03-25-2002, 05:48 PM well, he's driven a stick a couple time but not in traffic or anything, just on side streets. what should i tell him to do? 00GSR 03-25-2002, 05:57 PM Just learn to drive manual. It is not that hard, and it makes you a better person. :smoker2: skooby 03-26-2002, 08:31 AM Definitely a manual:smoker2: Speechless 03-26-2002, 11:19 AM I don't see any advantage to owning an automatic. Nothing wrong with it, but if you have the choice between 5 spd or auto on a sport compact car, then why chose auto? Being too lazy to learn should not be an excuse. Spunkymonkey 03-27-2002, 06:25 AM Can't go back to auto once you drive stick...it would be too dull. Definitely stick. kane2g 03-27-2002, 11:36 AM Most sticks are cheaper than autos and you dont have to worry about replacing the tranny because (at least w/ honda) you can get them for really cheap. 96LSIntegraRocket 03-28-2002, 03:22 PM don't u lose 20% drive train with auto ? SleeperTeg 03-28-2002, 06:38 PM ......always looking for that 3rd pedal 00GSR 03-28-2002, 07:15 PM Originally posted by SleeperTeg ......always looking for that 3rd pedal Lol, how many of you have been driving an automatic car..and while turning in somewhere...hit the break hard because you are used to a clutch :o Kind of funny because while you expect it to roll into neutral, the car slams to a halt :p CivicEx95 03-28-2002, 07:50 PM I always get into my friends car and try to push in the clutch to turn it on. DOH! casperGSR 03-28-2002, 08:52 PM k... break it down like this... hot girl=stick.... ugly girl=automatic.... what would you chose then? I think stick:D Spunkymonkey 03-29-2002, 01:18 AM I always forget about the park brake and stuff if I have to drive auto.....hate it its so boring! Haven't driven auto for years!!! manual....is the way to go :) shadowboy 03-29-2002, 11:00 AM Originally posted by SleeperTeg ......always looking for that 3rd pedal my integra has 4 pedals.. so that 3rd pedal should be there.. its way on the left (the dead pedal) Speechless 03-29-2002, 04:36 PM Speaking of which, I also have a funny experience driving an automatic after being used to manual. I was driving my friend's civic (auto) and we were stopped on a steep uphill, so instead of keeping my foot on the brake (to avoid rolling back), I tried "riding" the gas pedal. I was fully aware that I was driving auto, but I simply forgot that I could just use the brakes. So here I am tapping the gas and sliding down and suddenly jerking upwards continuously in an almost panick stricken state cuz I forgot what I was supposed to do. The people behind me must've thought I was a retard. shadowboy 03-29-2002, 05:34 PM you dont brake on hills in a manual? you really shouldnt ride the gas, auto or manual.. its a good way to ruin the torque converter in an auto, and shorten the life of the clutch in a manual. you should be able to get the car moving without rolling back more than 6".. no matter how steep the grade. (in a manual) that is unless of course you are new to manual and haven't got the clutch/gas timing down yet SickShift 04-08-2002, 12:15 AM anyone here ever get tired of driving there stick? my dads trying to talk me out of getting a 5speed teg, by saying i'll get tired of shifting and everything, but regardless of what he says i'm 150% sure i'm going stickshift...it sure did look like a ton of fun when he was crusin down the road when we went to go test drive my teg...lol CivicEx95 04-08-2002, 01:55 AM get tired of driving a stick? Definitely not. Autos are boring and you'll fall asleep at the wheel before a manual SleeperTeg 04-08-2002, 07:57 AM Right on.....nothing quite like a 5th to 3rd downshift. Sweeeet skooby 04-08-2002, 10:21 AM quote: __________________________________________________ _______ Originally posted by SickShift ...anyone here ever get tired of driving there stick? __________________________________________________ _______ yea, i do once in a while....those are the times when im either really tire or sore from weight lifting^^ shadowboy 04-08-2002, 11:35 AM Originally posted by SleeperTeg Right on.....nothing quite like a 5th to 3rd downshift. Sweeeet nothing quite like destroying your 3rd gear synchros either NEVER skip gears when downshifting unless you do a full double-clutch shift incidentally the only time manual gets tiring is when there is a traffic jam and the traffic moves 3 feet and stops. SoaD867 04-08-2002, 11:58 AM I say to defenitly go stick. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
