3 coil codes

My wife came home today and her 2000 WJ died before she got in the drive. Sputtering badly before it quit. Gives the codes P0351, 0353, and 0355. What are the odds 3 parts of the coil rail would go bad. Checked the wiring best I could. Think it's the coil rail going out all at once? Tried starting it but just cranks and sputters when it does hit. Man I miss my distributer caps and plug wires!

look at the oil pump drive.its the part that the cam sensor is bolted to where the distributor used to be.look at where it is clamped down in the block and see if it has marks on it that look like it moved or turned.they have a habit of seizing and when it locks up it sets weird codes and wont start

It will start and run for a few before it starts acting like it isn't hitting. It now gives the full spectrum of failures for each cylinder. 351-357.

ok you said it has a coil rail so that sounds like its a 4.0 liter.but a code P0357 is ignition coil number 7 primary circuit

It is giving 0351-0357 now. I have a new coil coming unless I am barking up the wrong tree.(long coil that runs the length of the motor and mounts directly over the plugs.)

Did a tuneup and it would start fine but as soon as you give it gas it sputters and dies. Though a sunny day I got a 1Mil candlepower light and started looking the engine over and looked at the part you were refering to and noticed a metal shaving on the right side of it. Shifted my attention to the left side and there was a mark about 1/4 inch long that looked fresh. I loosened it, which wasn't easy and moved it back to cover the marks and boom. Runs perfect.
Thanks for the tip but WTF causes it to move as tight as it was bolted down?

it siezed and it will probably do it again.you should replace it.usually when it siezes it strips the gear
