I have a problem with my Jeep with cooling. When we're driving, the car is fine, but when it's at a stop it heats up to about 210. It has a brand new radiator, thermostat, reservoir bottle and cap. We're being told it might be the clutch fan, but the fan works, could that still be the problem? I know it's not the head gasket, because it cools when the car is moving, just heats up at an idle. If anyone else has had this problem, could you please let me know what it was caused by.

BTW, it's not the heater hose either, because we just replaced that. Also, it doesn't overheat at all when we run the heater full blast. It's also nto a leak, because the water and anti-freeze is staying in the bottle.

I have had 4 jeeps and they all had a sealed cooling sys. try blasting water right into the hose that go's to the block to get the air out if the sys. has air in it it will get hot it took some time for me to get all the air out good luck

Is 210 an indication that something is actually broken?

My '88 runs at 210 all day long. Does it overheat or are you just concerned about this?

Have you checked your clutch fan?

I had to replace mine because it was over heating due to clutch slippage.

I alse tried to blast the radiator from a water hose

210 is normal operating temperature for the 4.0L in-line 6. Is it boiling over? If not, forget about it. It's fine. All the Cherokees I've ever had including the 2000 model I bought new in 1999 run at that temperature.
