1999 Ford Escort ZX2 Won't start

Hello,
My problem started with a bad alternator (lights dimmed then died)
I charged up battery and removed negitive cable and car stalled.
I replaced the alternator but didn't get the serpentine belt back on correctly and it shredded off. I replaced it and now it won't start. I checked all wiring that the shredded belt may have come in contact with and I don't see any damage.
I have checked for spark and I'm getting good spark.
Any suggestion what I can check next..
Thanks Steve

Did you check if its getting fuel and make sure the timing belt didn't snap also.

Hi, I checked the timing belt and its OK, its getting spark, but I'm not sure about the fuel. I don't know a good way to check to see if its getting fuel. Any Ideas??

It will turn over but not start. Check your crankshaft pulley and harmonic balancer. They have a tendancy to separate. On my 97 I had the same problem. I also had the same thing happen on my 1995 wagon. This could be why your first belt shredded. While your in there, check the key on the crankshaft and pulley. It could be out of time for that.
An easy way to see if it is not getting fuel can be had by spraying some starter fluid in the intake and seering if it will run for just a second or
two. If it runs you are not getting fuel. If it doesn't run you you know it isn't getting spark at the right time. All the best!

The camshaft position sensor could be unplugged or bad,and the fuel timing could be off

get some gumout throttle body spray and spray it down the throat of the throttle body if it runs for a second after that then you have a fuel delivery problem. Let us know
