starter bad?Rick's69 03-08-2005, 08:47 PM I have a 1969 bug. Sometimes when i turn the ignition my starter wont turn. is it bad? what could be the problem? it only happens sometimes. BoatCop 03-08-2005, 10:03 PM Could be a couple of things. 1. Worn contacts in the ignition switch. After all, the thing is 36 years old. 2. Solenoid on the starter sticking. See above. 3. Operator error. On these cars you have to turn the key all the way off if you abort a start attempt or if it stalls, before it'll turn over again. Rick's69 03-18-2005, 09:50 PM I fugured out that its not my starter its just that my alternator was really bad and my battery cables were loose. it was a combination of dieing carb and loose connections. thanx vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
