Auto parts shop near me sells an OEM replacement idler pulley for about $9. The entire assebly with pulley is about $35. Your actual price may vary depending on location.

gserve, I suggest you get under your vehicle and grease the 11 grease fittings in your front end.

Here's an example
I have a 95 S10 Blazer w/175k miles and just had the lower ball joints,idler arm,control arm,alignment,+tax done for total of about $630.
Idler arm,control arm parts and labor was about $207 of that.
Front end is lots tighter now..they told me that they had done well to last that long...yes...grease helps!

Grease every oil change, and do the greasing yourself.

It's a pretty easy fix.
I paid about $30 for mine and it took about 30 minutes to change out (that includes the time it took for me to stop and eat a slice of pizza and drink a beer.)

BlazerLT im new to this whole scene. What are grease zerk's, how do I grease them and what do I use?

Grease zercs are the grease fittings that you attach a grease gun too.

Howdy, welcome to the forum. I'm not BlazerLT but I can help. Grease zerks look like little nipples. First, go to a parts store and buy a grease gun, they can tell you what kind of grease to get. Jack your truck up and put it on jackstands, look for all the zerks (I think there are 11 but not positive) push the end of the hose onto the zerk and pump slowly untill there is a change in the pressure on the handle. If grease starts to come out STOP IMMEDIATLY!!! Some parts have a rubber seal and if you put to much grease in it, it will blow the seal. As a side note, buy a Haynes manual they help alot in finding things. Good luck.

You don't need jack stands to grease out truck's front ends.

I would have someone show you how to do it first, invite someone over to show you how to do it and when to stop pumping. Over doing it and pumping too much grease in could ruin your front components.

They should be greased until the the rubber boots become firm to the touch, but not to the point that they burst.
