I have a 1999 GC, 6 cylinder, 4x4.

My problem is that when the car is cold and i try to start it....it wants to start but it does not. It starts the second time after some hesitation...what could be the problem??

A mech said it was the fuel pump and it was gonna cost $250 plus off course labor.....Does it sound like the fuel pump??

I just wanna make sure i don't pay that much money and thats not the problem.....any ideas??

If it is the problem...where can i get a cheap one???

Any jeep cherokee sites i should know about....

try this, Turn the key to the ON Position and wait 5 seconds then shut off and try to start the jeep, Does it start?

If it does start, then the Fuel Pump is the likely cause, more specific the Fuel Pressure Regulator but on your model I believe the Pump and regulator is sold as a unit.

I Just replaced my fuel pump in my 97 jeep gc . I had the same thing happen. First it would hesitate going up hills then finally it would hesitate when trying to start it until one morning it would not start at all. I bought an aftermarket fuel pump at Advanced Autoparts. The cost was $110 plus labor from a friend. That was back in December. If this is the problem i would get it taken care of ASAP so you dont find yourself stranded when it does evually stop working
