I have a '92 Grand Marquis ,lost all forward speeds, still have a good reverse. I was told there are three different types/model transmissions that fit this year. Is there a difference in the two models that are electric? There is also an older model said to be non-electric,what is the basic difference and where do I find the ID plate on the transmission? Thanks,OlBanjo.

i am havin a similar problem wit my car also i have a 92 grand marquis and have very lil forwrd gear. i can feel the car and hear the change in sound in the engine when i put it in gear but it moves very lil. i raised the car and then put in gear and pressed on the gas peddle wheels moved and trans shifted through all the gears as i accelerate. i saw on another site that a common problem this car has is the torque convertor going bad. and it only has 1 trans for this year and thats the aod

For the '92, I think the tranny that came from the factory was the AODE version. That is what's on my '94. Hope that helps.
