Anyone with this problem and know what was done to fix it? I have 1996 Taurus. It started with my radio going out when the car was in gear. Radio worked fine in P or N. Then the power steering went out, but came back, and the safety belt light came on when the power steering went out. Also my window wouln't go back up until I put it in neutral, then it would go back up. This seems similar to a problem I had several years ago, and it was the Neutral Safety Switch, but I can't remeber exactly what it was doing that time.

One common source of weird electrical problems similar to your has been the TRS (Transmission Range Switch). Other posts on the bullboard should offer more details.

I agree with TomV. we have replaced so many that we now have it as a stock item. It is fairly inexpensive and a simple replacement. One wiring connector, 2 little bolts, and line up marks for neutral. Good luck.

My husband replaced neutral saftey switch (I believe might be the same as TRS) today. $24 and 10 minutes later, car's fixed. He called the dealership afterwards to see how much they wanted to do it. $375. Wow! Thanks for the posts back, saved us quite a bit of money.
