Today I was cruising along, and this riced out corolla comes flyin past me. So I catch up to him, till we stop at a red light. I look over, change the CD from Slipknot to Tool: Symphony Tribute, and cranked up the bass. It's kinda soothing when you make a kill listening to violin rock.

What do you listen to when you step up to the line?

i turn the music off whenever i race.

Usually punk or some form of techno/trance, maybe some alt rock. Sometimes I turn off the radio and listen to the car too.

Nothing but the engine, great to hear a V8 rev up.

I mainly listen to classic rock but there are a few new songs I like to hear. One of the best songs to race to though is Radar Love. A couple of others to drive to are ZZ Top, Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, Styx, AC/DC, and many, many more.

I wish I could say Guns N Roses' Welcome to the Jungle but that song has been played to death over the years that it has lost its affect.

Linkin Park mostly but I pop in some papa roach,limp bizkit anything that sounds angry. Although I enjoy the sound of a roaring engine sometimes too.

99% of the time I just listen to my engine roar. but tonight I played brand new..and AFI at a pretty low volume. You know..just in the background. I never blair music. Haha..what a waste of 460 watts.

I don't listen to music when I race. With the test pipe, and no cats the 944 just sounds beautiful, and the dual exhaust on the sc300 sounds really nice.

I like to blast ghetto rap sometimes to throw people off...DMX...luda...Haha...I litsen to metal a lot...Not crap like slipknot or anything( I like there music, I hate there lyrics), Like older metal, and newer metal/hard rock...

When racing...stricly engine, when cruising I listen to my rap w/ my subs pounding (gotta take these bad boys out for summer fun though :) )

J/P, Fuel by Metallica is one of the top songs I listen to when drive. Plus some Korn. Like Got the Life, also there's some Lost Prophets, and a bit of Rap. L8...

Hell Yeah Big :1: Any WU-Tang clan or methodman cd is great. I listen to a lot of Bone Thugs, and Brotha Lynch as well. I used to listen to strictly rock, but I kinda got sick of it. If I'm in a calm state of mind I might play anyone of the Prodigy CD's or Crystal MEthod. Almost never play when I'm actually racing though, its all engine.

usually rap or beastie boys to let those subs in the trunk get some time. Sometimes its middle rock, not too heavy and not too light. eve6's open road song is pretty cool sometimes. Other than that it can range anywhere from techno to rock to rap to bass tracks. I try to keep my spectrum pretty broad.

It depends. When it's a car that i never raced against before i turn of the radio to hear his engine.

But mostly its on rock, sometimes old disco ( i love those funny beats under a great melodie).

Pretty funny actually when you line up against one of the many johnnys (read: "ricers"). Those commercial ridiciously house beat songs start comming out of their car i turn it al open on fe: 'Survivor' (the one from the movie rocky).

I was until I got pulled over by radar today going 83mph in a 45. it's a $275 ticket with 5 points. So I don't know what I'm doing now.

nothing dude, the more energy your car is using, the less power you have to the ground...
its more noticeable (at least in my car) if the heater or A/C is on
and its why some people turn off their lights when they race

A/C..yes. Headlights, no. A/Cs are belt driven off the crank..so they're parasitic. headlights are not.

in that case, neither is the heater.

Lights and Heater/fans are all run off electricity... and when you race, the motor spins that Alternator like a SOB thus you make plenty of juice, so it's not gonna drain you of 'power'.

If anything, running the heater while you race is a good thing, helps extrapulate excess heat from the motor to help it cooler under 'race' conditions. That's why they say to run the heater if your car has cooling problems... or in hot weather conditions like driving through a desert.

APC is pretty good if you ask me. Mer de Noms was much better than thirteenth step, but they are all really good. APC doesn't have the drum on lockdown like Danny Carey though. And Tool has something that APC doesn't.... Complexity.

Any of you guys into the older stuff like Rush? Once again, Rush has an awesome drummer too. Neal Pert(sp*).

I'm not a huge fan of the 13th Step Album, although it does have my fav APC song-The Outsider.
