i highly doubt that car runs 10s. not to mention that he claims it only weights 2473lbs which is bullshit. if it is even possible to convert a 3g to awd, it would weight much more than 2500 lbs haha. what a joke

Because he's a badass. There are dangers, but it's a strictly track car.

That's a really good looking engine bay. Hard to believe there's that much optional stuff under the hood that you can remove.

i know thats why i ask because i would like my engine bay to look something liek that someday, i want to remove any excess parts from car.....things liek the Ac lines...they do nothing butt piss me off an get in my way. what else has he taken out ? can anyone tell just by looking ?
and couldnt you just make a customized "Turbo filter" that would help keep the Risk of soemthign going in the turbo.....liek a screen or soemthing similar ? know what im sayin ?

Would be interesting to have a list of everything eliminated. The obvious stuff is missing; AC, CC, and emissions. What else though, I don't know. I remember someone on here commenting on the impressive weight reduction of the car, considering it has full glass and almost full body. I think it was Kevin who mentioned that the weight loss "had to come from somewhere." Shep is like that-- a parable for potential. Hella low quarters, really light weight, and with a mostly stock body.
Pretty off topic now, sort of hijacking the thread. Then again, it was a thread about an ugly 3g by a guy who got banned. Not feeling so bad about this one, lol.
As for the turbo screen, I don't know. Some dirt will get in, over time, that's fundamental to the tradeoff. Rocks or debris would ruin your day, but I guess they're betting on a clean track.

There is a guy that lives a few blockes from me that has/had a MX6 with a turbo set-up... I checked it out one day and noticed that all he had was a screen over the turbo inlet... I asked him if he had any problems and he said the rings were going bad... HA HA HA HA HA I wonder why?

Notice Sheps 35 psi boost guage in the middle of the lower row. Go to his site and watch the 9.5incar video and notice that it wraps to the pin in every gear ;)
As far as taking stuff out of the car, there is no real way to list even the stuff I took out of the 2g, never mind a real race car. Everytime you work on the car there is a potential for "weight savings." See a little bracket no longer being used? Shitcan it. Random bolt installed but not holding anything down? Shitcan it. Unnecesary vac lines, wires, non-structural metal? Shitcan it. Hell, get a cage and a swazall and take out some structural stuff too, if you know what you are doing :) If its not making the car faster, why bother dragging that shit down the track. Takes some experience to know what you can do with out, and some balls to try it. Start with the small non permanent things first. For me it was a process that took 5 years. Now I know enough that if I bought a chassis for a race only car I could comfortably gut the entire thing, shitcan the chassis wiring harness and run my own, no sway bars, the list is endless.
