The F1. It is a much better looking car and faster. Too bad it costs a heap more as well.

well in this case, MBTN is correct.
Roadster, there's no comparison between these two. the F1 is just plain better. who would rather have a V6 instead of a V12?? that V6 is probably a Ford V6, too. btw, the F1 goes 240.14 mph;)

When purchasing a supercar, such as the XJ220 (If you can find one) or a Mclaren F1, cost is not exactly an issue. People who buy these cars probably aren't making monthly payments, more like one huge one, SO cost dosen't really apply to them.
My vote goes to the Mclaren, until Koenigsegg, Buggatti or Ferrari can get their asses in gear, nobody in the right mind would say anything else.

Its really quite obvious
The F1 pushes the envelope, 103bhp/l, light body, huge power, great drivetrain, insane speed
The XJ220 weighs half a ton more, is cumbersome on a track, half the cylinders... it just doesnt get anywhere near the F1 in any department

if these cars are "pretty good" id like to know what you think are very good cars!

I don't know if i'm in right mind but there is a street legal car faster than McLaren F1... it's the Dauer racing porsche 962 Le Mans ... I'm not saying it's better than McLaren , because both are very special cars , but the porsche is a bit faster... 0-100 kph (0-62 mph) in 2.7 and a 406 kph (253.75 mph) top speed.... it's a 850 hp turbocharged engine...

Sorry dude, they stopped making them in about 1994 or so.
If you go to the rennsport Reunion (I think it's at Watkins Glen, NY) last yera they had like 10 962's there.
Schuppan also made the 962 CR, which was the most expensive 'production' car, they only made 5 over a few years, all were street legal, and they cost 2 million some odd dollars, it was more than the CLK GTR, so it cost more than most planes. :)

They are both fine cars. The Jaguat wasn't the marketing success it was to be, but still turned out to be a great car. The F1 is probably one of the most desired cars in the world, but I am a Jaguar fan, so the XJ220g gets my vote!

u had the jaguar specs all wrong:
Top Speed 218 mph
0 - 60 mph in 3.6 seconds
0 - 100 mph estimated in under 8.0 seconds
1/4 mile in 11.7 seconds @ 125 mph
it had a Twin Turbo V6 with 542 hp at 7500 rpm and 475 lb ft of torque at 4500 rpm. it was also a 3.5 litre with 4 valves per cylinder
they had a prototype with a v-12 that was all wheel drive but it was heavier and not as fast

i'd definately take it over a Mclaren, because they're a lot more rare and they look better i personally think, cuz it's a rocket :rocket:

I voted for the McLaren. It is so damn good that the only thing I can say is that it is the ultimate supercar, no car has surpassed it, and it leaves the XJ220 in the dust. Not that the XJ220 isn't a good car, but it is far from the close to perfection Big-Mac.

i vote the Jag. I dont care if the McLaren is faster, it is just..........ermmm.........i dont know the word......i know.....German (Brits will understand this). it is built to go fast and carry peopkle comfortably. It does, and nothing else. IMO a true supercar ands a little something else into it, and the XJ220 has charachter, its just so damn huge, and there will never be another car like it.

I think we've disagreed over this before, but what the hell :D
The F1 has character! The BMW engine was (is) unbelievable and the looks are still stunning today. I think what it is is that the F1 has nothing particularly wrong with it. Its seen as close to perfect, which appears a little boring, or "german" to some people, whereas cars like the XJ220 are flawed, which brings around an image of character, and so on. But to say all the F1 does is go fast, carry people comfortably and nothing else is ridiculous. Imagine what it must feel like sitting in at the wheel of this legendary car, about to start it up and go for a fly. Besides, what other 3-seater supercars do you know?

i believe we HAVE disagreed over this before, but here goes :D
maybe you are right it is perfect. its the complete car, it has everything, and that is what is wrong with it. It has no extravagant lines (Murcielago), no awesome engine noise (Vanquish), no rawness (CLK-GTR) to it. no matter how fast it is in a straight line (CLK-GTR and 911 GT1 would leave it for dead round a corner) it has no individuality, yeh............individuality, thats the word ive been looking for all along :D

962 Le Mans is an awesome car, but impossible to find.
And the new Veyron dusts em both :) 1,001 hp who can complain about that... well the 1.5 million price tag... but meh! since the buyers of such cars aren't caring overmuch between 900,000 and 1.5 million, if you can afford one you can afford the other. Since insurance in this case is the great equalizer lol

Sure, but will the Veyron be driveable? and how will it handle...
word is there are technical issues with the size of the engine...
