i need help with a real bad oil leak, and rough idle, jbizel 03-05-2005, 08:25 PM i have a 1994 ford taurus, i was driving on the freeway for about 20 mins and then oil just started streaming out from the engine. i turn the car on and it takes a few seconds then the oil just streams out. i cant pin point where it is coming from. but it seems its coming out of the back of the engine. can anyone help? also when the car is on, at idle, it will rev, then drop back down, then rev, then drop back down, and so on and so on. please help. thanks NakedDancer 03-05-2005, 10:58 PM Well I would first check and see if the oil filter is on correctly: not loose. Then I would check the oil drain pulg for snugness. Other than that Your just going to have to get dirty and climb under there while the car is running to find the leak: shouldn't be hard if it's leaking that much. If that engine loping started at the same time as the oil leak your probally looking at a busted head gasket or worse. Other than that your either not getting enough fuel (fuel pump failing, fuel filter clogged, bad injector) or you have an air leak, vacume line off, air filter clogged, could be leaking at the fuel injection system/manifold (listen for a hissing noise). mwt 03-06-2005, 08:14 AM That year has a notorious problem with the gasket pushing out at the front of the engine. The quick fix is to loosen the bolts and push it back in. The other option is pulling the pan and replacing the gasket. cost you about $300.00 if you have someone do it.
