Today we went shopping at WallMart. I stayed in the car while the wife shopped. Abuot an hour latter we went to leave. The car stalled when I put it in reverse. Got it started again, but it dies while backing out of the parking spot. I then noticed when I attemped to start the car again that I failed to hear the pump "prime-up" with the key in the run position. I did however hear the relay click. So we pushed the car back in the parking spot. Checked the fuse..tapped the relay. Still no start. Went in to call a tow-truck...half an hour later we came out to wait for the tow truck. Guess what? I heard the pump spool-up to preassure and the engine started. Drove 15 miles home, no problems.

Pump is the origional...1998. Can they be intermittent??? No theft lamp lit

Next time the fuel pump stops working, hit it with a mallet while someone is starting it. If it starts it working than it needs replacing.
